Growing Up Ghetto

You know you grew up ghetto / poor if...

You had a bike that:
- had no wheels
- had a wheel missing
- had wheels but the rubber part of the tire was flat or gone

You used one or all of the following as a Halloween costume:
- a trash bag with holes cut out for the head and arms
- your mama's make-up and if she had a wig you wore that too

- pajamas

You never had any store bought toys - All you had was rocks and sticks.

You had store bought toys but they were the cheap dollar store kind that broke after a week.

You used old tires as a swimming pool.

Your house was full of things that half-worked or didn't work at all. Example: A lamp that could only be turned off and on by screwing and unscrewing the light bulb.

You lived with your grandma, grandpa, uncle, auntie, cousins, other relatives and some guy your parents felt sorry for.

You always had no food in the house, yet there was always Kool-Aid.

Your house had those giant cockroaches with wings that flew around like kamikaze pilots.

You had a neighborhood drunk.

There was always a baby walking around alone with dirty a diaper on.

You saw babies drinking bottles full of soda.

Your school had a metal detector.

You've seen a helicopter spotlight searching your neighborhood at night.

Your house was full of things that were fixed with tape. Example: A torn window screen.

You could see through the floor of your car.
